Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy explains what personal information DIG collects through this website, dig.bs, why, and what choices you have. It is written to meet the Bahamas Data Protection (Privacy of Personal Information) Act, 2003, and the comparable data protection laws of the other jurisdictions DIG works in.

Who is responsible

This website is operated by Digital Isle Group ("DIG"), Church Street Plaza, 138 Shirley Street, Nassau, Bahamas. DIG is responsible for the personal information described here. For anything in this policy, email hello@dig.bs.

What DIG collects

When you download a report. DIG's Insights reports are free to download in exchange for an email address. DIG records your email address, which report you downloaded, when, and whether you asked to receive future Insights.

When you email DIG. If you write to DIG, your message and contact details are kept so DIG can reply and keep a record of the conversation.

Website analytics. DIG uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets no cookies and does not identify individual visitors; it works from aggregated, anonymised data.

Technical data. Like any website host, DIG's hosting provider processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. DIG does not use this to identify you.

Your theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is stored in your own browser so the site remembers it. It is never sent to DIG.

DIG does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and does not collect information from other sources to combine with what you provide.

How DIG uses it

  • To provide the report you asked for, and to keep a record of who has downloaded DIG's reports. This is in DIG's legitimate interest in understanding who its research reaches.
  • To send you future Insights, only if you ticked the box to ask for them. Downloading a report never signs you up on its own. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by emailing DIG.
  • To reply to you when you email DIG.
  • To understand how the website is used, from anonymised analytics, so it can be improved.

DIG does not sell or rent personal information, and does not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Who processes it for DIG

DIG uses a small number of service providers, who handle personal information only on DIG's instructions:

  • Vercel, which hosts this website and provides its analytics.
  • Resend, which stores the email addresses of report readers and sends DIG's Insights emails.

Both are based in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed there. DIG chooses providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to the laws that apply here.

How long it is kept

Report download records are kept for as long as they are useful to DIG, and no longer than two years after your most recent download, unless you have asked to receive Insights. If you have, your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask DIG to delete it. Emails to DIG are kept for as long as needed for the conversation and DIG's ordinary business records.

Your rights

You can ask DIG to:

  • tell you what personal information it holds about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop sending you Insights, or stop using your information in any other way

Email hello@dig.bs and DIG will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in The Bahamas, or the data protection authority where you live.

Security

DIG takes reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information, including encrypted connections to this website and access to stored data limited to the people who need it.

Children

This website is intended for businesses and professionals. It is not directed at children, and DIG does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Significant changes affecting how DIG uses information you have already provided will be communicated by email where DIG has your address.
